Abilities

This are the details to the core attributes, resources, combat mechanics, damage reduction splits, and stealth/detection stats that govern character abilities and interactions within the BlackBox HUD.


Core Attributes

  • STR — Strength: Increases melee damage, carry weight, and physical checks.
  • DEX — Dexterity: Increases accuracy, dodge chance, and ranged damage.
  • VIT — Vitality: Governs toughness and maximum HP.
  • CON — Constitution: Boosts stamina, endurance, and resistance to toxins/disease.
  • INT — Intelligence: Increases magic power and knowledge-based checks.
  • WIS — Wisdom: Improves perception, willpower, and resistance to mental effects.
  • CHA — Charisma: Governs persuasion, leadership, and social influence.
  • MEN — Mental: Increases focus, concentration, and defense against psychic/magic stress.

Resources

  • HP — Health Points: Determines life pool.
  • MANA — Magical Energy: Resource for spells and abilities.
  • EN — Energy/Stamina: Resource for physical actions, dodges, skills.
  • RGH — Health Regeneration: Rate of HP recovery over time.
  • RGM — Mana Regeneration: Rate of Mana recovery over time.
  • RGE — Energy Regeneration: Rate of Energy recovery over time.

Combat / Mechanics

  • AC — Armor Class: Raw protection from armor and gear.
  • DP — Defense Points: Dodge, parry, and block capability.
  • DR — Damage Reduction (flat general): Flat reduction applied to all incoming damage.
  • DRP — Damage % Resist: Percent reduction applied to all incoming damage after flat DR.
  • ML — Morale/Luck: Influences crit chance, fear resistance, and random checks.
  • MOV — Movement (Meters): Governs travel speed and mobility range per turn.

Damage Reduction / Resistance Splits

  • PDRF — Physical Flat Reduction: Flat reduction applied to physical damage.
  • PDRP — Physical % Resist: Percentage reduction applied to physical damage.
  • MDRF — Magic Flat Reduction: Flat reduction applied to magical damage.
  • MDRP — Magic % Resist: Percentage reduction applied to magical damage.
  • RDRF — Ranged Flat Reduction: Flat reduction applied to ranged damage.
  • RDRP — Ranged % Resist: Percentage reduction applied to ranged damage.

Stealth & Detection

  • STLF — Stealth (flat): Reduces the distance enemies can detect you.
  • STLP — Stealth %: Reduces the chance of being detected when already in range.
  • DETF — Detection (flat): Increases distance at which you can detect hidden targets.
  • DETP — Detection %: Increases chance of detecting hidden foes within range.

Class Progression

Players start in Norune with the class Denizen, as soon as they are in the first area, the Forest, they can turn to one of the 4 class mentors who stay there. This will give them the opportunity to choose a T1 class. As the level progresses, further tier classes are unlocked up to T3. T4 and T5 receive their own mentor as final level classes.
